Energized vs. Exhaustion

Can you believe that it is almost Christmas?  This year is flying by.  It has been a stressful and busy year but it has been my best year in the classroom yet!  I have a pretty great class, they are fun, silly, eager to learn and pretty hard to keep up with. :)  This year I finally feel like I know what I am doing in third grade and it's allowing me to implement more fun, creative, interactive and engaging things to my lessons.  One of the reasons why I feel like I am a much better teacher this year is because I am Teacher of the Year at my school and I feel like I need to live up to it!

One of the reasons why this year has been so stressful, is the upcoming switch to Common Core in 2012.  I am so excited about the switch next year, although it is going to be hard work.  I know that not everyone is quite sold on the change yet, but I have changed the way I teach math to better align to CCS and I can see a huge change in my student's understanding.  I am so excited to switch up my reading instruction after Christmas, with the help of my dear friend Elisabeth!

There are definitely days that I come home exhausted and burnt out.  There are some days when I come home energized and excited.  Then there are some days when I come home exhausted but still happy with the day!  The good days are usually due to a well planned day with interactive student centered lessons.  I wish every day could be like this, but I am still not to that point yet.  It takes so much TIME, and there is just not enough time in the day.  I hate to see what will happen if I ever find a husband or have children!  On a good note, the past few days have definitely been Energizing days!

Thanks to my Pinnacle Friends that were at the meeting Monday, it was great to get great ideas and insights from you guys, as always! :)
