We're Off To See The Wizard!

Today was one of those days.  I am pretty sure that my class was invaded by Body Snatchers today and no one informed me.  We have workdays on Friday and Monday so I hope that we sweeties will return to me on Tuesday. I am so tired.

In fact, I started writing this post about 4:00 and couldn't keep my eyes open.  So it was naptime for me.  I feel a little more rejuvenated.

So today we learned about how to find a fraction of a group, i.e. 2/3 of 18.  I swear, I do teach more than fractions.  I feel like that is all I have blogged about the past three weeks.  Math is my stronger subject but I do teach reading and content. ha.

My lesson went well, but our activity did not turn out as cute as I had hoped. This concept is always so hard to teach to my little third graders.  Last year another teacher shared a little trick with me, called the "Oz" Method. So today we went on a wonderful field trip to Oz.  I made this poster with the cutest little clip art.

My kids really got the concept and they loved singing along to the Wizard of Oz music.  My craft didn't turn out as cute as I had envisioned, that may have been due to the fact that my lovely children were not on their best behavior.

There were 40 bricks in all and the students had to figure out how many of each color they needed.  Then they colored some of the characters to glue on the brick road.

It's up at my TpT store for free if you want any of it.  It includes the poster, the templates for the craft and a worksheet

Don't forget to enter my giveaway!  Happy Thursday friends!
