"Winter Is" Colorful Writing

TGIF!  I survived the first week back.  We stayed soooo busy this week! I wanted to share with you guys some of the winter writing we did today.  Thanks to Amy at Step Into 2nd Grade with Mrs. Lemons I was able to make some super cute writing.  I won a Free Winter Writing Craftivity From her, check her out she's awesome!

I have never done a great job at teaching writing.  I hate to say it, but it's not tested.  HORRIBLE I know!  I am trying to be better about it, especially since the Common Core Standards are swooping in next year.  Anywho, we have been working on using adjectives, or colorful words, to jazz up our writing.

First we came up with some colorful winter words.

Then, the students wrote their descriptive paragraphs.

They turned out great!  Their writing is definitely coming along.  At the beginning of the year, there were no capitals or punctuation to be found!

I would like to say that I came up with the idea of using markers on the colorful words, but that was totally one of my students!  How smart are they??

Love the marshmallows!

Have a great Friday! I'm heading to the mountains for a Bachelorette Weekend, too bad it's not Vegas right?

I love this movie! :)

It depresses their mood, makes them more horizontal to unhappiness, and brakes their mind to a crawl. 3. Once I've been to one of the workshops about storytelling and I undertsood I could the same exercises to teach my children to write beautifully, and to develop this skill myself. I used to work with essay service all the time to provide beautiful examples of texts or essays, but still it was interesting for me to learn how to do it myself. The exercise is simple: you choose a fairy tale and one place from it, you describe it from the point of view of all 5 feelings of a person. Have fun!

Leave some love!
