Folktale Update and Geometry Lapbook (Giveaway)

Man am I tired!  So this will be short and sweet!

First off, someone commented on my Folktale Booklet Freebie on TPT.  I made that thing ages ago it seems like! Well they said it would be awesome if there were posters to go along with each folktale.  Genius! So I whipped them up. So be sure to redownload the mini-unit!

Next up, you know how I love foldables and lapbooks! Well, our math journals are almost full so I didn't feel like we would have enough room to put all of our geometry foldables I wanted to make. SO MUCH VOCAB! So, I made a lapbook! We are starting it tomorrow and my kids are so excited about it!

There are Seven Foldables in all, plus a cover and a rubric.  There are color and black and white versions!
Here are the foldables:
1. Real Life Examples Accordion Fold
2. Solid Figures Flip Book
3. Quadrilateral 2-Flap Brochure
4. Angles Pyramid Fold
5. Triangles 6-Square Brochure
6. Polygons Pocket with Cards
7. Lines and Segments Flipbook

Even if you don't want to make a lapbook, there are great to go in the math journals!

It's $3.00 at my TPT Store and TN Shop!

I will give it to two people! Just comment below and tell me about your experience with foldables and I'll choose two people Friday!

Have a fabulous tomorrow! :)

  1. My kids LOVE foldables! I have used them in every subject and they are always excited when I bring up foldable making! :) I am always on the lookout for new foldable ideas! Love your ideas!

  2. Hi Amber! The geometry foldable unit looks fabulous! I love using foldables in my classroom also. My kids get excited at the mention of a foldable activity. I use foldables in all subject areas. My favorite that we have done so far was a foldable briefcase we made during our study of the American Revolution. This became their study guide for the test.

  3. Holy cow, that foldables unit is my LIFESAVER next year, I can just feel it :) Thanks so much for sharing your amazing creativity!

    Going Nutty!

  5. I've honestly NEVER used a lapbook before and I've taught 3rd grade for 6 years now. For the past two years I've taught ELD and I'm constantly looking for new ideas for them to gain great ideas for learning vocabulary & learn the material. I think this would be awesome for my kids!! I love your ideas!! Thanks so much for sharing! It's given me some fabulous ideas :)

  6. I am your newest follower :)

    Love your foldable math lapbook!

i am COMPLETELY new to the concepts of foldables and math notebooking. found the ideas via i feel like i have been living under a rock! LOL!!! when i subbed for another teacher last week, i had students make a foldable for range, median and mode. they had a lot of fun...and i actually saw them using it to help complete their classwork!!! i have spent the last two weeks researching foldables and math going to start using them when my class goes back to school on tuesday!

  10. I'm just starting out but all the vocabulary you included is FANTASTIC! Great job!

I would definitely love to have this.

  11. Well, I'm not sure where to start. Foldables are my life. I LOVE them and use them in every subject. Its such a simple way to organize information. When they need it they can just take it out of their folder instead of flipping through their journals. When they are done they can take them home to use there too! :)

  12. I feel like this year, I've been collecting/organizing ideas I've found from blogging. Next year, they will be implemented! Our geometry unit is last though, so this would be fun for my kids to try!

Third Grade in the First State

  13. I work in an area with a VERY large ELL population, and foldables are a great way to help them organize and develop their vocabulary in all areas. They're lots of fun to make too ;)

  14. I love the idea of lap booking but have only done one because I am new to third grade this year. Your geometry one looks great.

Now I'm going to head over to your store to see what else you have!

  15. I would love to use this. My kids tease me because of how often we use foldables!

  16. I have not used foldables ~ but I'm thinking I need to rethink that!

  17. GEOMETRY LAPBOOK!!!! I am about to intro geometry to my 6th graders and they have NO background knowledge. I will be downloading this !!!
    To The Square Inch

  18. I went to several Dinah Zike presentations years ago, bought all her books and became the queen of foldables at our school. (In fact, I kept seeing people talk about lapbooks on their blogs and thought I was out of the loop until I found out I was using them...just calling them by a different name!)

What I love is that the students love making them, and will actually work carefully on them, which is not always the case with other work they do!
