I hope everyone had a great summer (although I know a lot of you have already been back in your classrooms for a while.) I went back to work this week. Our "Meet the Teacher" Night is Thursday so I've been busy getting everything ready.
Meet The Teacher Night is always such a whirlwind (and I can never remember everything that my students' parents tell me), so I like to have a Google Form Survey for every parent to fill out. What I love about using Google Form is that it compiles the results into one Spreadsheet!
Here is a copy of the one I have created for the year.
How do you create a Google Form you may ask? It's super easy, as long as you have a Gmail or Google account.
First, log in to your Google Drive, Click New and Create a New Google Form
Next, choose your theme
Now, it's time to add your questions.
Your can change the type of question by just clicking on the item that says Text, beside Question Type.
Here is an example of how to fill out a multiple choice or list.
Now, you're next stop is finding a way to share your form with your parents.
You have several options.
You can share the form via email, embed the form or share that long complicated link.
In the past I have just had the form pulled up on my class computers, but they inevitably get closed out and the next parent can't fill it out.
So this year, I'm trying something new.
This year I will have iPads in my classroom, but the great thing about this is that the parents can also use their Smartphones!
I will post this around the room so parents can complete the survey.
Since the link is so long, I used Google Url Shortener. The link is goo.gl
Just paste your link URL.
Then it gives you a shortened URL and a QR Code!
I know it sounds like a lot of steps, but it really doesn't take long at all to create!
Google Form is also a great tool to use with your students!
Hint...Hint... I might be sharing some of that soon.
Have you had any great experiences or great ideas using Google Forms? I'd love to hear about it in the contacts!
